X Marks the splot where the pond will go Closeup of the water pump

Hi, I'm Emily, Welcome to my website!

1998

I really wanted a pond in the front yard, so grandma got some books and we started digging. We didn't plan, just started digging a hole close to the house so we could see the pond from the living room when it was raining or cold outside.

1999

I was 4 years old when we started, now I am 7and have to help clean the pond in the spring. The Thanksgiving Day flood made things sooo muddy, there were 17 inches of flood water on top of the pond and some swam away.15 gold fish missing12 koi missing, all the sparkley ones, including the white one with the red spot on its head. The big ugly orange and black one is still here.

The racoons must have had a feast. They never bother the pond, the sides are straight down, 3 feet, but every night at 1:30 am, they walk around it and look.

We made a lot of mistakes because we had never seen a pond made with a rubber liner. The biggest mistake was putting in "red freshwater lobsters" when actually they were just plain old crawdads. Bright red. They ate a lot of little fish.
